All SJU Dining Plans and funds are for the personal use of the owner of the account only and are non-transferable. Dining plans and funds cannot be used as a gift card or gift certificate. Dining plans are valid during the semester they are purchased in and added to the student account each semester.  Dining plans are an annual plan, the plan selected for the fall semester will automatically renew for the spring semester.  Dining plans for the 2020 fall semester have been reconfigured and reflect prorated pricing due to the modified university academic calendar.  Student dining plans selected for fall will automatically renew for the spring semester 2021, however there will be updates to pricing and an expanded number of meals to match the academic calendar for the spring semester.

Meal Swipe balances do not carry over from fall to spring semester, are non-refundable, non-transferrable and expire at the end of each semester. Dining Dollar balances carry over from the fall to spring semester and expire at the end of the spring semester.

Except as otherwise expressly stated in these terms, all SJU Dining Plans and funds are non-refundable and will expire on the last day of enrollment or on the last day of the current semester.

 

Cancellations & Refund Policy

All dining plan purchases are considered final, exceptions are made on a case by case basis and determined for consideration by e-mailing DiningServices@sju.edu. A request approved for a refund will be refunded to the student account used for purchase.

The following calculations will be used for students that withdrawal from SJU or make a change to their dining plan:

Fall Semester 2020

August 26th to September 1st, 2020
Dining Plan refund of 90%
Full refund on all unused Dining Dollars, minus a $100 service fee.

September 2nd to September 8th, 2020
Dining Plan refund of 80%
Full refund on all unused Dining Dollars, minus a $100 service fee.

September 9th to September 15th, 2020
Dining Plan refund of 60%
Full refund on all unused Dining Dollars, minus a $100 service fee.

September 16th to September 22nd, 2020
Dining Plan refund of 40%
Full refund on all unused Dining Dollars, minus a $100 service fee.
 
September 23rd to September 29th, 2020
Meal Plan refund of 20%
Full refund on all unused Dining Dollars, minus a $100 service fee.

No refund for Dining Plan allowance thereafter.

 

Spring Semester 2021

Home Chef Meal Kits FAQ’s

After purchasing the 25 Block Plan when can students expect to receive their meal kit vouchers? Shortly after purchase students will receive an email with a unique code they can use to enroll with Home Chef and redeem their meal kits.

How many meals does a student get with their $120 voucher? Here are a few ideas of what a student can get with $120 with Home Chef:

  • 2 meals & fruit basket +smoothies, 2 servings ($59.60), 2 weekly deliveries with this option.
  • 2 meals, 6 servings ($119.40), you can get 1 delivery of this option.
  • 3 meals, 2 servings ($59.70), you can get 2 deliveries of this option.
  • 3 meals, 4 servings ($119.40), you can get one delivery of this option.

What is the typical delivery duration between the time a kit is ordered & delivered? Shipping takes a couple of days, but fulfillment is relatively fast once the order is placed.  Students can order their kit to be delivered Monday - Friday.  Orders are locked in every Friday afternoon and then orders are delivered the following week.  Lag time is usually around a week from when they order to when it is delivered. We recommend that all meal kits are addressed to the appropriate residence hall, campus apartment or townhouse to which students reside. For example:

By following the above mailing address standards meal kits will be delivered centrally to the Mail Services Center.  For more information on mailing address standards click hereSJU Dining Services is responsible for final distribution to students from the SJU Dining Services office located in Campion Food Court. Students will receive an e-mail notification the day their meal kit arrives, pick up times from the SJU Dining Services office are Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. 

Is there a delivery minimum or free shipping? There is a weekly delivery minimum order to receive a weekly meal kit in the mail.  Students will receive free shipping if they order a weekly box of $49 or more, otherwise shipping is an additional $10. Students will be notified with a pop-up if they have not met the minimum.

Do meals come automatically each week? Home chef is a subscription box, so unless students pause their account, they will continue to receive Home Chef kits if they have credits in their account or if they’ve entered in their personal credit card information.  To pause the account so future orders are cancelled, look under “My Account” in “Account Information”.  To skip a delivery for a week (example: fall or spring break), click on the week you would like to skip, then scroll to the bottom of the page and press “Skip Delivery”.

Can students buy more Home Chef meal kits above the $120 voucher that is included in their 25 Block Plan? Yes, a personal credit card number can be added to the Home Chef account.

Can students apply any other promotional code in combination with their dining plan voucher code? No, only one promotional code/voucher code is allowed at a time.

What happens to a meal kit if I change my dining plan? If a student changes their dining plan, Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars can be moved over to a new plan, however the student will still be charged for the meal kit as it is non-refundable. 

Do the meal kit vouchers expire? Meal kit vouchers do not expire so a student can use a portion of the value at any time in the future, even if they graduate or transfer.

Can a first year resident student purchase a meal kit voucher? Not at this time, Home Chef meal kits are only included in the 25 Block Dining Plan.
